NHRA Presents “Pro Stock Battle Of The Burnouts” At Indy

Pro Stock drivers will have the opportunity to heat up the track for fans this week at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. The “Pro Stock Battle Of The Burnouts: Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em” is a burnout challenge taking place during the five pro stock qualifying sessions at the event.

After experiencing positive fan reactions from Shane Gray’s epic burnouts in Brainerd, the NHRA partnered with their friends at Goodyear to give the fans more of what they want by creating a fun-filled competition for the Pro Stock class. The Battle Of The Burnouts challenges drivers to smoke the tires and show fans outrageous burnouts reminiscent of the days of “old school” pro stock drivers like Bob Glidden and Warren Johnson. Fans will participate in selecting which driver will win a set of Goodyear racing slicks after the completion of each Pro Stock qualifying session.

Details
During each pro stock qualifying round, announcers Alan Reinhart, Brian Lohnes and Joe Costello will discuss and compare the drivers’ burnouts, ultimately selecting the top two burnouts of the session. The fans then get to relive these two burnouts on the Sunoco Vision screen via Papa John’s Instant Replay. Crowd participation and applause will determine the winner.

The winner of each round will receive a set of Goodyear racing slicks and accumulate 200 points toward the Grand Prize. The runner up of each round will receive 100 points toward the Grand Prize. Fans will track progress throughout each Pro Stock qualifying session as the points rack up.

After the fifth and final round of pro stock qualifying, all points will be tabulated and the driver with the most points will receive the Grand Prize of $5,000.
