Pearson Takes Outlaw 275 At Mooresville, Lowers Record To 4.16!

Pearson3Just one week after being unseated by Barry Mitchell as the quickest man on 275 drag radials, David “Little Evil” Pearson roared back to the top of the Outlaw 275 heap this weekend at Mooresville Dragway. Pearson, who previously held the Outlaw 275 record at 4.23 before Mitchell took the top spot with his 4.21 blast at Maryland International Raceway a week ago, wheeled his gorgeous Calypso Green Mustang to a string of four-teen passes, ensuring there would be no talk of “flukes” with his record run of 4.16 in the finals.

Pearson1Running a Bullet Racing Engines-built 400 CID small block Ford powerplant, Pearson relies on a ProCharger F3 to force the air through the mill and out the eardrum-bruising zoomie-style headers. Deron Lowery handles the crew chief duties, while David’s wife, Tracy, handles the tuning. The team relies on help from Wiseco Pistons to withstand the punishing supercharged airflow, and Big Stuff 3 engine management software to handle the fuel and timing management.

Record passes are not just measured in 660 feet. Pearson uses the sixty-foot times to help extract the most from the car at the hit of the throttle, and the 330 foot clocks help ensure the power is ramping up at the most efficient possible rate. With an otherworldly 1.035 sixty foot — that rivals even the quickest Radial vs the World 315 Radial 60′ times — and a stellar 2.755 330 time, Pearson is clearly putting the power to the pavement in brutal fashion. This is a car that is a mere tenth of a second from battling for the quickest radial-tired car on the planet, regardless of tire size.

Pearson 2The Little Evil team would like to thank the following individuals and sponsors, without whose help they would be struggling to run at this level: “Mustang Mike” Modeste, Dave at Proformance Transmission, UPR Products, Mark Menscer, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels, ProCharger, Teddy Houser Race Cars, The Supercharger Store, Jason Eckard, Neal Chance Racing Converters and Josh Addison Pain and Body. Look for Pearson and company to continue to push the limits of Mickey Thompson’s 275 radial tire. Could deep teens and possibly 4.0’s be in the future? Safe money says yes, and you can bet Team Little Evil will be right in the thick of the race to 4.0’s!
