It’s been some four years in the making, but the once-wildly popular drag racing program PINKS is set for a return in 2015 with what, at this time, is a single four-day blowout event to be held at the Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina over the Fourth of July holiday.
A little less than a year ago, PINKS creator Rich Christensen revealed to Dragzine in an exclusive story that after three years of negotiations, he had acquired the all-encompassing rights to the PINKS and PINKS: All Out brands. He and Executive Producer Brian Bossone were already working day and night to bring the program back to television following it’s long hiatus from the Speed Channel, where it ranked among the most popular drag racing television programs in history.
And now the pair is set to do just that with PINKS Week, which they’ve teamed with Rockingham owner Steve Earwood to deliver over four days, from Wednesday July 1st through Saturday, July 4th.
“The fact that racers and fans still want PINKS, is both an honor and extremely humbling. Their unwavering passion is the reason I’m bringing it back. I’m hoping PINKS WEEK at Rockingham, will become the largest grassroots drag racing festival in the world! Like Sturgis, it will be a one-week event. The one chance, each year, for friends and family, from all over the country to come together and celebrate all things cars, bikes and speed,” says Christensen.
“My years of experience with the Pinks brand and Rich Christensen Entertainment has me leading the charge to bring Pinks back to the grassroots drag racing community,” says Bossone. “Pinks All Out has been one of the most popular events in grassroots drag racing history. The exciting on track competition created some of the best “true” reality television ever produced. Rich and I are extremely excited to have the opportunity to connect with Steve Earwood and Rockingham Dragway on July 4th week 2015 to “Bring PINKS Back.”
We’ve reached out to Christensen’s team for comment and will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
