Eddie Krawiec, the reigning and two-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion became the first rider in the history of the category to unofficially exceed 200 MPH during testing on Monday at the South Georgia Motorsports Park in preparation for this weekend’s NHRA Gatornationals.
Krawiec, aboard his newly-painted silver and black “Night Rod” Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley Davidson rocket, clocked a 6.771-second lap at 200.08 MPH, which exceeds both ends of the current official NHRA national record that stands at 6.777 and 199.26 MPH. Krawiec set that official speed mark at Gainesville last year, but flirted with the elusive 2-0-0 at other times during the season to no avail.
Teammate Andrew Hines actually did Krawiec one better in the elapsed time department on Monday, recording a stout 6.758, while coming up just short of the magic speed number at 199.82 MPH.
In terms of the NHRA Full Throttle professional categories, the 200 MPH Pro Stock Motorcycle barrier remains as quite possibly the last major milestone to achieve, and if the conditions in Gainesville are anything like they are in Georgia, that final frontier may be history in just a few days.
