Choosing a digital dash for your build can be a daunting task – there’s a lot of different options out there with a wide array of features and a wide array of price tags to go with them. Here we’ll compare the Racepak IQ3 and UDX lines of digital dashes to help you sort out what makes the most sense for your particular needs.
The IQ3 has a lot going for it. This dash can be used with any of Racepak’s V-Net data loggers, and its fully programmable LCD digital dash makes it ideal for use in a variety of motorsports. One V-Net cable is routed to the rear of the dash, which provides both power and access to all sensor information transmitted to the data logger for simplicity, and the IQ3’s four programmable pages can display up to different sensor inputs. It’s a serious piece of hardware.
It also includes the following features:
- User defined alarms with warning text and lights
- Command Center for shift light
- User defined progressive shift lights
- Gear Indicator
- User defined 5-character sensor input names
- Shielded, low luster display for sunlight viewing
- Metric / Imperial Configurable
In the opposite corner we have the UDX. This unit is all about flexibly. To that end, the UDX can be had in three different flavors – Street Model (display only), Replay Model (display & replay), and Display Only (use with V-series recorder). UDX dashes are capable of displaying up to 21 different functions. There are five numeric displays, plus the engine RPM sweep bar, on each of the four screen pages. Here are some of the other features of the UDX:
- User defined alarms with warning text and lights
- Command Center for Shift Light
- Function Buttons
- Plug-n-Play Installation
- Minimum / Maximum Read Outs
- Adjustable Lighting for Night Time Use
