Over the last several years, Hot Rod’s Drag Week has been a proving ground for those who want to show their ride is a truly bad-ass street car that can put up big numbers, and deal with the brutal driving requirements required by the event — it showcases the meanest street machines around. One of the amazing byproducts of Drag Week has been the unique combos that racers put together to try and make the entire trek from start to finish. Now is your chance to purchase a vehicle that’s made it through Drag Week three times, can run in the eight-second zone, and is a one-of-a-kind ride.
The 1985 mid-engine S-10 available for sale is only a rolling chassis, but it is set up to do some damage with whatever powertrain the new owner wants to bolt in. The chassis has been stretched a whopping 46 inches to allow for the mid motor configuration, and it’s also equipped with a 7.50-legal mild steel roll cage. Complementing the chassis work is a Dana 60 rear end that has a spool along with a pair of new Moser 35 spline axles that are held in place by a ladder bar style suspension.

A Griffin radiator is included for cooling purposes on those long Drag Week driving stretches, and a 15 gallon fuel cell helps to help keep you on the road just a bit longer on your trip. This combo has helped the S-10 survive the Drag Week battle in 2013, 2014, and 2015 — it’s a proven commodity for someone looking to get into the game.
With the boosted big-block combo, the truck has seen a best elapsed time of 8.60 at 164 mph in the quarter mile with a 1.27 60-foot time; this unique setup works and has plenty left on the table for anybody who wants to make it their own.
