Becoming the world’s quickest and fastest import has been an international battle the last few years, with teams from Puerto Rico and Bahrain trading the record back and forth. This past weekend at Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida, the Zoian Racing team dropped a bomb when they laid down not one, but two low 5.70 passes in the quarter-mile to solidify their spot at the top of the import food chain.

The World Outlaw Nationals brought out some of the biggest names in Pro Mod racing to sunny Florida to get some testing in before the season starts. Records were dropping all weekend, so it’s no surprise the Zoian team was able to take advantage of the conditions to electrify the import racing world. With their eyes set on history, Zoian racing took their Rick Jones Race Cars-built Camry and set the Ramsamy Racing Engines 2JZ powerplant on kill to see what would happen.

The first record pass Zoian Racing driver Victor “Florito” Flores made was a booming 5.71 pass at over 252 mph. That pass by itself was truly amazing and demonstrated the power the Toyota engine could crank out, but the team wanted more. After making some adjustments to the car, Flores ripped off a 5.70 pass at 253 MPH with a .956 sixty-foot time. To put things in perspective, that kind of ET would qualify Zoian Racing at or near the top at any NHRA Pro Mod race.
