It’s been quite a week for Steve Johnson, his team at Induction Solutions [2], and some of their more high-profile customers in the drag racing world and on the small screen.
[3]On Sunday evening, longtime Induction Solutions customer Ron Rhodes claimed the X275 crown at the biggest radial tire event in history, Lights Out 7, down in South Georgia, adding to his already stacked resume and putting one more notch in the belt for the nitrous contingent. Rhodes qualified his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro seventh in the field of 52 cars with a stellar 4.455, and disposed of Bob Bales, Jeff Colletta, Jamie Stanton, and top qualifier Rob Goss on his road to the final round. In the final match between a pair of X275 heavyweights, opponent Jared Johnston had problems at the hit and could only watch the Delaware racer sail off into the darkness for a 4.44-second victory.
Rhodes runs IS’s X275-specific single stage direct port system on his Camaro, which has upgraded solenoids and some aesthetic upgrades to make it look as fast as it runs.
[4]Twenty four hours after the conclusion of Lights Out, the Discovery Channel premiered its much anticipated Street Outlaws: New Orleans reality show, featuring the fast-talking, wheeling and dealing racers in the bayou country of Louisiana and Mississippi. The new program, which centers around Indiction Solutions racer Kye Kelley, introduced its new top five lists for big and small-tire racers, both of which, following the premiere, are topped by a racer running Induction Solutions nitrous oxide.
On the big tire list, that is of course, Kelley and his famous “Shocker” Camaro, sporting a CFE intake manifold with two direct port kits and IS’s Punisher plenum system with lightened CNC solenoids. Atop the small tire list sits Bobby Ducote and his nasty “Lil Legend” Ford Maverick, packing a 458 cubic-inch, small-block Ford with an IS single stage direct port system.
