Every class in the NMRA has some sort of appeal to the racers and fans alike. For me, the Hot Street class shows who can truly build the baddest naturally aspirated small block in the country. Given that these cars are now going 8.40’s in good conditions, they’re certainly doing a lot with a little. Enter Rick Riccardi, Downs Ford Motorsport Manager and NMRA Hot Street contender. After getting the final rules a little later than expected, it put their season opener on hold for some necessary changes to the car.

To get things done as quick as they reasonably could, Rick got together with Marc Poldino at Hell Bent Race Cars, who understood the team’s predicament and made some room for this urgent project. Rick and Marc are working closely together to get this sweet ride done in time for the NMRA Ford Nationals at Atco, May 14th-16th.

We like something a little different than your average Mustang, and the Capri is just that. While it does have quite a difference in appearance it’s virtually the same as any other Fox Body chassis car under the body, which makes them a cool alternative to what some refer to as.. “just another Mustang.”

Marc and Rick certainly know what they’re doing with this car, but special thanks also goes out to Edelbrock for their impressive work on these SBF cylinder heads, and QA1 in the ever-so important suspension department. Can this team overcome the hurdle of missing the first two events, as well as being at a disadvantage with no testing prior to the Atco event? We can all speculate that for now, but be sure to check back in May for event coverage when this Capri wheels its way down the 1320.
