Making his way to the ring, weighing in at 243 pounds, a 21-time World Heavyweight Champion, “The Nature” Boy Ric Flair!” And his opponent in this evening’s match race, a 12-time IHRA Pro Stock event winner and championship team owner, weighing in at an undisclosed weight, “The Teach,” Roy Hill!
This Saturday night at the Panama City Raceway in Fountain, Florida, former drag racing standout and renowned driving school instructor Roy Hill will square off with, of all people, legendary professional wresting icon “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair in a drag racing match race as part of the Express Lane Shootout, presented by Hill’s primary sponsor, Coca-Cola.
“We’ve been looking forward to this race all season,” said Hill. “We set this up when Coca-Cola first came on board with us at the start of the year, and momentum has been building as we approach the date of the race.”
“Panama City is also the hometown of our car owner, James Finch,” Hill continued. “We’re really excited to have him there, along with the folks from Coca-Cola and Express Lane convenience stores, and of course my old buddy Ric Flair. It’s going to be a great day of racing, so check out the flyer for all of the details and come join us at Panama Beach Raceway next weekend.”
Hill has long been known as one of the toughest personalities in all of drag racing, and if these two were to hypothetically step into the ring, the World Champ might get a little more than he bargained for from the driving school instructor. Perhaps an added attraction if there’s a second match next year. Whoooooooo!
