There’s still some curiosity out there in learning how the wildly popular Discovery Channel program Street Outlaws is doing in the ever-important Nielsen ratings. After all, thanks to some high-profile matchups and a number of well-known individuals gracing the show, many would argue that this, Season 4, has been the best one yet. Well the answer to that is….very, very good, if you work for the Discovery Channel, Pilgrim Studios, or have any involvement — financial or otherwise — with the show.
During the third season, which aired last summer, Street Outlaws was regularly pulling in numbers between 1.5 and two million households, with a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 category. Although tickling the two million mark, it still failed to reach it’s peak of 2.2 million, achieved with the season two finale, which had the added benefit of airing during the peak television viewing season during the previous winter months.
But this season, Street Outlaws, which has been a part of Discovery’s popular Motor Monday programming, along with Fat N’ Furious, has routinely drawn well over two million viewers, with more than 2.4 million tuning in to the two most recent 9 p.m. airings, On February 2nd and 9th. But its season peak, which could still be exceeded with next Monday’s finale, came during the season premiere back in December with 2.5 million viewers and a 1.0 rating.
Making that record viewership all the more impressive was the fact that it went up against a college football bowl game.
During its first season back in 2013, Street Outlaws enjoyed an average of 1.5 million viewers and 0.6 rating, which helps to illustrate just how much growth the show has seen in less than two years time. Along with Fat ’N Furious, Fast ’N Loud, BikerLive, Chrome Underground, and Lords of the Car Hoards, Discovery’s Motor Monday enjoys a coveted role as the leader on cable television among men 25-54.
