Canadian racer Phil Sliskovic captured his first major Outlaw 10.5 event victory last Sunday at the annual Shakedown at the Summit in Norwalk, Ohio, driving Team 68’s nitrous oxide-assisted 1968 Camaro to the $10,000 win.
Sliskovic drove the Neal Chance Racing Converters-equipped Camaro, formerly piloted by Jerry Mitrovic, to an impressive (and weekend-best) 3.97-second blast at 190 mph in the final round to edge out another Neal Chance runner, Mike Decker, Jr., who carded a losing 4.06. Sliskovic qualified No. 1 in the field with a 4.05 and carried the momentum throughout eliminations, posting a 4.06, 4.13, and 4.02 on his way to the money round.
Midwest Pro Modified racer Jon Stouffer also parked NCRC in victory lane recently, as he bettered Monte Grace at the Ozark Raceway Park’s Street Machine Shootout, 3.84 to a 3.94. Adding to the Pro Mod hardware, NCRC customers ran the table at the PDRA’s Dragstock event in North Carolina, as Tommy D’Aprile scored in Pro Extreme and Lizzy Musi and Kevin Rivenbark did the same in Pro Nitrous and Pro Boost, respectively.
In the small tire ranks, Alex Hays put his former Dragzine feature car into the record books, as he drove his naturally-aspirated combination paired with a Neal Chance converter to the first-ever 4.7-second lap in Ultra Street trim with a 4.774 at the Yellow Bullet Nationals. And longtime small tire hitter Keith Szabo notched another no-time victory in his twin turbo Fox body at the U.S. 41 Dragway’s “Super Glued” event, defeating Kip Broaddus in an all-NCRC final round in the Bad Boyz on 10.5’s class.
