SSR Custom Carburetor Tech Ready To Order From Quick Fuel

A custom carburetor can be a huge advantage in drag racing because it’s built for a specific engine and how it will be used. Things like the engine size, rpm range, fuel, and vehicle weight are just a few of the factors that play into having a custom carburetor built. Getting a custom carburetor might not always be an option due to time constraints or cost, so Quick Fuel Technology now offers their SSR line of carburetors that have race proven success that is based on years of custom carburetor builds.

The SSR carburetor is rooted in the ultra-competitive world of NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing where QFT has been able to gather outstanding information from all the custom carburetors they’ve built over the years. The data used on these builds have been poured into the SSR corrugators to produce an “on-the-shelf” unit that is NHRA legal.

Brian Gaines from QFT explains what went into the development of these competition ready carburetors.

“The success we have had with the custom ordered SSR carbs led to the question: can we put these on the shelf? So, we used years of custom specs to build a general spec for each CFM, and then fine-tuned those specs for altitude and transmission. What you get is a readily-available, NHRA-legal, race-ready carburetor. Tuning per application will only improve the performance, but the stock spec will be close, if not perfect,” he says.

All of the SSR carburetors produced by QFT have been tweaked with specs that have been tested and used, plus have already been approved by the NHRA.

“These could be used for a wide variety of applications, but are built specifically as replacements for O.E. Holley carburetors. The list can be found at the NHRA Accepted Products section at the beginning on page 52. We still offer custom specs per application. These carburetors, if needed, can be sent in and have an even more specific spec and build performed for a given application,” Gaines says.
