The Strange Engineering Coyote Stock heads-up racing category is getting its own form of stimulus money during the NMRA World Finals October 4-7, 2012 at Beech Bend Raceway (Bowling Green, KY). The class sponsor, Strange Engineering, is tossing in an extra $500 to the winner and another $250 to the racer with the best reaction time during eliminations. The Strange Bonus brings the winner’s circle check to a hefty $1,000 in cash on the spot but if the winner also owns the quickest reaction time bonus money, then Strange will add another $250 on top of the reaction time’s $250 bonus—bringing the total winner’s potential payout to $1,500.

Adding more cash on top of that is the NMRA Contingency program—HiPo Joe Charles collects $1,650 in contingency money while the other winner in 2012,  Justin Burcham, claims $1,500 in contingency winnings. That means if either of those two racers win and knock off the quickest reaction time they will walk away with $3,150 (HiPo Joe) or $3,000 (Burcham). Recently the five Coyote Stock competitors have been working hard on-track to extract the most from the Ford Racing sealed 5.0L crate engine. Times have dipped into the high 10s consistently in NMRA competition with testing performances being a little quicker. The Kentucky air in early October and excellent track conditions of Beech Bend Raceway always produces record-breaking runs and we expect nothing less from the Coyote Stock contingent.

The Coyote Stock class has been one of the most-talked-about new categories in heads-up racing. Just this week class regular Shane Stymiest ran a 10.68 at the 5.0 Magazine Coyote Shootout, while another regular, Jacob Lamb, turned in a 10.81 on his way to a class win in the UMTR event at Edgewater Raceway. Both competitors will be on the property in Kentucky along with all of the other class regulars shooting for the Strange piece of the pie.
