Street Outlaws And Record Passes On Tap At Radial Fest -The Gauntlet

RF15Spring-251

This racing season has already been full of action packed moments and record-shattering passes, but radial tire racers will be seeking to take it to a whole new level at Radial Fest – The Gauntlet on September 22-24. The biggest names in the radial tire racing world will make their second trip to Huntsville Dragway in 2016 to see who will come away with the win in each class. If that wasn’t enough action for you, a pair of stars from Street Outlaws will be at Radial Fest, mixing it up with match races and exhibition passes during the event.

Brad Edwards became the first man to break into the three-second zone at the fall edition of Radial Fest in 2014 at Huntsville Dragway, and others have since followed in his footsteps. Radial Fest promoter Zach Jones believes that this event could see even more reaching that magical zone.

“The track ET and mile per hour record for Radial vs The World is 3.90 at 210 mph set by Daniel Pharris, and it might get broken at this event, depending on who shows up. We usually see some heavy hitters like Mark Woodruff, Kevin Mullins, and others come out, so who knows what numbers we will see if the conditions are right for them to make big power.”

Besides the possibility of record-setting passes in the premiere class of Radial vs The World, fans will be treated to some good old fashion match racing by “Daddy Dave” Comstock and Derek Travis from Discovery Channel’s “Street Outlaws”. “Dave is coming Friday night only, and will be match racing Mike Jones in his Limited Drag Radial class Cobalt. Derrick will be there Friday and Saturday making passes, and he might match race the Cobalt or someone else if they want to step up,” Jones explains.

A unique class to Radial Fest is Mean Street, where there is a bit of chance as to what number the racers will have to use. “Mean Street is a floating index class where we randomly draw the index for the class that people must run. This class is for door cars only, tube chassis cars are prohibited, and any 275 drag radial or 10.5 slick is allowed. It has really turned into a fun class with a wide variety of cars,” Jones says.

Radial Fest- The Gauntlet is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet in the series. Between the bad boys of Radial vs The World, Street Outlaws match racing, and the variety of Mean Street, there will be something for everyone at the event. If you can’t make it to Huntsville Dragway, SpeedVideo will be there for the entirety of the event to broadcast all of the radial tire action live in HD for you to enjoy, thanks to sponsors ProCharger, Moser Engineering, Comp Cams, Billet Atomizer Injectors, CPR Racing, Summit Racing Equipment, Chassis Engineering, Optic Armor, and Late Model Engines.
