If you’ve ever wanted to take part in the filming of Discovery Channels’ hit reality show Street Outlaws, the Bristol Dragway in Tennessee is making it possible next week when they welcome the cars and stars from Oklahoma City and other locales around the country to the legendary strip for a $100,000-to-win Cash Days-style tournament that will be filmed and aired on the cable network early next year.
Set for Tuesday, August 22nd, admission to the filming, which will mark the richest payout in show history, is completely free (parking is $10), with gates opening at 4 p.m. and racing slated to begin at 7 p.m. The lineup will include the 405’s entire Top 10 List — current number one Chuck Seitsinger, Big Chief, Murder Nova, and the rest of OKC’s finest — along with 22 other competitors, to comprise a 32-car field of racers.
“Street Outlaws has a passionate fan base and some of the most entertaining characters on television today,” said Jerry Caldwell, executive vice president and general manager of Bristol Dragway. “We can’t wait to see what antics they get into as they race down Thunder Valley. We hope all of our neighbors in the region will join us as this popular show arrives in Bristol.”
The Discovery Channel is soon to announce, officially, the launch of its second spinoff show, Street Outlaws: Memphis, starring the polarizing JJ DaBoss, and the Bristol filming will likely feature the on-camera rivalry between the 405 and the 901, in Memphis’ own backyard.
The Street Outlaws cast will also be taking part in the festivities surrounding the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race NASCAR Cup race at Bristol, making special appearances and selling merchandise.
