Until the Shelby GT500 came out in 2007, the ’03-’04 Cobra reigned supreme in the Mustang world. Therefore, it would only be natural that these cars be locked in a sibling rivalry. These days the Terminator/GT500 rivalry is really picking up steam and the NMRA is throwing gas on the fire. There have been Terminator/Shelby GT500 shootouts at the NMRA MIR and World Finals the last few years, but now the two get the duke it out at Bradenton Motorsports Park as part of the NMRA Spring Break Shootout March 5th-8th.
The Spring Break Shootout is the NMRA’s opening race of the 2015 season. Racers and spectators escape the cold of the north, in the hopes of catching hot drag racing action, and a few rays of warm, Florida sunshine. With the addition of the Terminator/GT500 shootout, these fans get the added benefit of seeing Terminators going against Shelby GT500s in a .400 Pro tree, heads-up format.
Terminator/GT500 Shootout competitors will receive a free entry into True Street, but the car must meet True Street rules to take advantage of that offer. There will be special plaques for the fastest runs, and awards for those who run closest to 9, 10, 11, and 12 seconds, just like in True Street. There will also be 10 special outstanding achievement awards given out to top performers in the class.
VMP Tuning is the class sponsor, so if you like a good ol’ sibling rivalry, or want to see how your Terminator or GT500 stacks up against the rest, make plans now to attend the NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park March 5th-8th.
