Bubba Corzine recently announced in an interview with ProModWarzTV that he, along with the help of former Executive Vice President of Operations for the American Drag Racing League, Jessica Nowling, and others, will be promoting a new drag racing series with a proposed four race schedule. The series is promising to be for the fans and is taking a survey on their Facebook page to determine the classes to be run at their events. Their page is named to celebrate their first event at Rockingham Dragway, which is scheduled to be held on March 9th, 2013. Classes that fans can vote for include everything from multiple variatons of Pro Modified to Nostalgia Funny Cars, Top Alcohol Funny Cars and Dragsters all the way to Top Sportsman or Dragster and Drag Radial classes.
It seems this group has already garnered some potentially unwanted attention. Corzine attended the season finale of his former employer over the weekend and was escorted off the property, citing that current management did not want him on site. We couldn’t help but notice that a few cars that are confirmed for the series’ first race, according the the Facebook page, are ADRL regulars, and even a newly crowned champion are expected at the first event.
If the series stays true to the fan vote, right now you can expect to see a pair of Outlaw Pro Modified classes — one for blown entries and another for nitrous oxide — along with Outlaw Drag Radial Class, Outlaw 10.5, and X275. The management team wants to bring back some of the “show” factor that was a part of the early days of another. Corzine in his interview alluded that Al Tucci will be back announcing by asking, “How can you have a Pro Mod race without Al Tucci?” The series also has a signed deal with SGMP, but no details have been given yet. We will continue watching this as it develops.
