Over the last several months, we’ve brought you a few exclusive updates (seen here and here) on the stunning Stanley & Weiss Cadillac CTS-V that was under construction at Larry Jeffers Race Cars in Missouri, destined for competition in the PDRA‘s Pro Extreme class among others.
The car is finally complete, and made its maiden runs down the track this past weekend at the PDRA’s event at Virginia Motorsports Park using the Noonan Race Engineering screw-blown HEMI engine controlled by none other than Davis Technologies‘ Profiler Wheel Speed Management system, which Shannon Davis can be seen wiring up in the picture above.
In fact, on the very first qualifying hit on the car made it into the field and set the bump spot, and by the second run pilot John Stanley was nearly on the pace, clicking off a 3.796 at only 176 MPH, showing tuner Camp Stanley and the rest of the team that they had a bad-fast hotrod on their hands, just days after finalizing the build.
Unfortunately the team was unable to improve on that 3.79 hit in the third and final round of qualifying and were edged out by Brandon Pesz for the final qualified position when Pesz clicked off a 3.775 hit in his 1958 Corvette.
All was not lost, however, as the team secured the Best Appearing Vehicle award from the PDRA for the weekend, and has a great start toward the rest of the 2014 season. In fact, we here at Dragzine have a feature shoot on the CTS-V planned very shortly, where we’ll be able to climb in, on, and around the mean machine and bring you more of the build and construction details.
