Former Pro Stock, Competition Eliminator, and Top Sportsman competitor Todd Hoerner is set to make his return to full time racing in a big way in 2012, as he will campaign in Extreme Pro Stock in the ADRL behind the wheel of a brand new 2012 Chevy Camaro built by Jerry Bickel Race Cars powered by an 825-inch Hemi from sponsor Sonny Leonard Racing Engines.
“Since moving to the East Coast I have been waiting for the opportunity to race Pro Stock again, and the chance has come. Competing in Top Sportsman and Comp eliminator with big inch Sonny’s power (he set the ET record , and MPH record for A/AA ) has allowed me to acclimate myself with big inch motors. Moving up to Mountain Motored Pro Stock is a dream for me. Sonny has a number of clients in the class, and I am looking forward to running with them in the ADRL.”
In 2008, Hoerner competed in a limited schedule of NHRA Pro Stock races and qualified at all but three of those he attended. Todd and his family relocated to the East coast, were he went to work for the legendary Leonard. Todd has competed in both Comp and Top Sportsman on a limited basis since that time, but will make return to Pro Stock – albeit a different flavor of Pro Stock – when the ADRL season gets underway in Houston. Hoerner, one of the most well known (former) Northwest competitors, is one of just two drivers to collect Wally’s in five different categories in the NHRA.
Hoerner’s new Camaro is one of a number of new Chevy Camaro’s expected to debut in the NHRA, ADRL, and other venues in 2012. “Jerry Bickel is finishing our new Camaro, and we are working hard at the shop to get the new power plant completed. If all goes well, we hope to be able to test sometime in late Feb.”
