By this point in the game, you’re probably asking – another Camaro? Yes folks, another Camaro, but this one is a ZL1…
Granted, at least is isn’t a ’68-69 model, which still outnumbers the fifth-generation body style cars several to one, but nevertheless, a lot of these new cars have rolled in just the last four months and more are surely on the way.
This latest machine belongs to former Pro Stock, Competition Eliminator, and Top Sportsman ace Todd Hoerner, and you may recognize it from the rendering supplied with a story we ran back in December highlighting Hoerners’ plan to go ADRL Extreme Pro Stock racing in 2012.
Hoerners’ new mount, fresh out of the Jerry Bickel Race Cars shop in Moscow Hills, Mo. is the first new-age Camaro to feature the “Version 2” 2012 Camaro body, making it the first true ZL1 Camaro – complete with the ZL1 body package that includes the replica front air dam and air ducts.
The Sonny’s Racing Engines logo on the door is a dead giveaway to the provider of the power beaneath the hood, but Hoerner’s Camaro packs an 825-inch naturally-aspirated big block from the legendary Sonny Leonard, featuring hemispherical heads and the recently approved Electronic Fuel Injection.
Hoerner is expected to make his Extreme Pro Stock debut at the next event on the ADRL calendar – the ADRL Spring Drags III on April 20-21 at the Bristol Dragway in Tennessee.
