It was anounced on Thursday that longtime sportsman racing icon Tommy Phillips and his Philco Racing Services team will continue to carry the K&N Engineering through the 2012 and 2013 seasons, with four racing vehicles under the Philco umbrella. These competition vehicles will include a Super Stock Chevrolet Cavalier, Super Comp Dragster, a Super Gas Corvette Roadster, and a second Super Comp Dragster driven by Riley Ledbetter.
K&N Engineering will mark its fourth consecutive season with Phillips in 2012 as a primary sponsor. Riverside, Calif.-based K&N Engineering is a familiar name in the racing and high performance industry, and their revolutionary washable filter elements have become one of the benchmarks in the racing air filtration market. CBS Arc Safe will join K&N as co-sponsor in the new year, following the departure of former sponsor Tigerflow, who pulled back their involvement in racing.
“We’re delighted to continue our alliance with both K&N and CBS Arc Safe in 2012,” said Phillips. “This season will mark our 4th with K&N, and the relationship has been great. We’ve worked closely with CBS Arc Safe in the past, and the new season presented them an opportunity to increase their role with our team. I think it’s safe to say that we’re all excited about 2012.”
In his illustrious career, Phillips has accumulated 25 NHRA national event victories and 28 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional wins. In 2011, he earned he NHRA Division 4 Super Gas championships – his seventh title overall in that division.
Phillips, Ledbetter, and the K&N/CBS Arc Safe team will kick off their 2012 racing campaign at the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Winternationals in Pomona, Calif. on February 9 in pursuit of national and divisional titles.
