Video: Anthony Dockens Makes Spectacular Save At No-Prep Race

ad2Over the last few months, you may have come to know the name Anthony Dockens. The Kansas native is the promoter of the Wichita Street Fights grudge racing events held in his home state, and also gained widespread fame when he appeared on the Discovery Channel’s Street Outlaws during the most recent season, where he lost a match to Chuck Seitsinger when he jumped the start. But perhaps his greatest accolade to date came when his flamed “Crypt Keeper” Chevy Monte Carlo, powered by a big block on nitrous, was featured here on Dragzine.

Okay, so maybe we’re just kidding on that last part.

At a recent no-prep race held at the Kansas International Dragway, however, Dockens’ beautiful Monte Carlo was nearly turned into a pile of crumpled steel, when he overpowered the bare racing surface, breaking the Hoosier radials loose and sending him into a wild drift across both lanes. Miraculously, Dockens managed to avoid the worst and merely clipped the wall with the rear bumper during one such sideways powerslide. Thanks to the crew at 1320Video, we get to see how butt-puckering a ride it really was, both from the onboard camera and two other positioned along the track.

ad1After the run, Dockens is visibly elated at just how little damage he came away from the incident with — displaying perhaps the most joy we’ve ever seen by a racer that just scratched up his race car. But hey, it’s all about perspective.

Whether we’ll see Dockens back on Street Outlaws in the future remains to be seen, but following their nationally broadcast matchup on Discovery, Dockens and Seitsinger have carried on a very heated public rivalry, and at this very event in Kansas, tempers actually boiled over into a shoving and shouting match between the two camps in negotiations to set up a race for some loot. Said race has yet to occur. Luckily, Dockens still has a car to race after this intense no-prep excursion.
