One of our favorite parts of being an automotive journalist s the opportunity to get an all-access pass to the manufacturing facilities of some of the most recognized brands in the industry. Seeing and using the product is one thing, but it’s an eye-opening experience to go behind the scenes and witness how that part came to be. Every facility is unique and each one goes abut their processes a little differently than the next.

One of the facilities we’ve yet to bring you a tour of is Minnesota-based QA1 Precision Products, makers of some of the industry’s most popular shocks, struts, springs, and anything else you’d need for your aftermarket suspension kit for road, drag race, and dirt track vehicles. Fortunately, the folks at QA1, with National Sales Manager Corey Flynn as your guide, have produced a detailed walk-through of their adjoining facilities that produce their entire lineup of products.

The tour begins with a complete introduction to the QA1 brand, it’s history, and how the current product lines came to exist, followed by our guided trip through the main machining facility, the shock rooms, the new fabrication facility, and the R&D department.
