To say that the Brenspeed NMRA drag racing team has been on a roll is a bit of an understatement. The Brenspeed team already won their first three outings handily with their old 2012 Mustang, and just a few weeks ago announced that they would be replacing it with a brand new 2013 Mustang in the bodacious Gotta Have It Green.
Brenspeed debuted their mean, green Mustang this weekend at Milan Michigan with a new supercharged Aluminator 5.0 engine under the hood. And if you expected anything other than yet another win for Brenspeed, well you obviously haven’t been paying attention.
That makes it four wins in a row for the Brenspeed team, though it is the first for the Gotta Have It Green 2013 Mustang they’ve been working on. Far from staying stock, the Brenspeed team removed the stock Coyote 5.0 and went ahead and replaced it with an Aluminator 5.0 from Ford Racing Performance Parts. Then they topped it off with a Roushcharger supercharger system, and even at a full racing weight of 3,985 lbs., the Brenspeed team ran a string of 10-second quarter-miles. It’s best run was a 10.70.
And as you can see in the video above, the competition really didn’t stand a chance; Brenspeed’s supercharged green Mustang blows the competitors away. With plans to add another 130+ horsepower on top of what this supercharged ‘Stang is already running, Brenspeed hopes to be hitting 9’s by the end of the season. But they had better keep winning if they want to lock the 2012 NMRA championship up tight…though if history is any judge, that won’t be much of a problem.
