If one were to spend upwards of two million dollars on a production street car, they’d likely expect it to be the most over-the-top, quickest accelerating, and fastest production car on the planet. That, or be made of solid gold, serve you hot meals, and provide massages after a hard day at the office.

As this video shared with us by That Racing Channel proves, France-based Bugatti’s exquisite Veyron mid-engine sports car is exactly that, delivering the quickest quarter mile times of any production vehicle on earth – save for the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet and Challenger Drag Pak.

The Veyron, with a price of $1.7 million US dollars for the base model, packs 1,000 horsepower and some change out of the 8.0 liter, quad-turbocharged, W16 cylinder engine that resides behind the drivers compartment.

A member of That Racing Channel was able to spend some time recently at the Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida with the wealthy owner of one of these stunning Bugatti’s, and filmed it recording a seemingly effortless 10.17 at 139.44 MPH. This isn’t too far off from the 9.8-second rating given to the car from the factory and the media that have test-driven it. And while it is indeed the world’s quickest production car, there’s one sizable price premium to pay for less than half a second performance difference between it and “affordable” vehicles like the Corvette ZR1.

Not only does this outrageous sports car clock the quickest quarter mile of any production vehicle in the world, it will also cruise at a comfy 253 miles per hour. Not bad for a 4,162 pound car, huh?
