Video: Camaro Slaps Wall, Then On Next Pass Loses Complete Rear-End

The idea of going really fast in a straight line doesn’t sound dangerous, at least at first. But when you’re talking about 1,000+ horsepower vehicles loaded with a highly flammable fuel and powered by an engine that, if even the smallest thing goes wrong, could explode, well, things suddenly sound a lot less safe. Thankfully there are plenty of safeguards in place to protect the driver from the car…but who will protect the cars from the driver?

That’s we are asking ourselves, as we came across this video of a Camaro at the drag strip getting ready to race…when things go horribly wrong right off the line. The inutarts with a classic Camaro dragster launching hard off of the line and going into the wall. It isn’t a hard hit; more like a scrape, and soon enough the Camaro is back on the line, ready for another run.

Now we’re not sure what exactly happened, whether that first hit rattled the rear end loose, or the welding job wasn’t up to par. But after loading up the Camaro’s engine and attempting to take off, the rear end literally pops out of the back of the car and rolls down the track…leaving the Camaro with only half of its wheels. It’s actually rather hilarious to watch the Camaro bounce on its own huge slicks before hitting the ground…and then the crowd goes wild.

That’ll buff right out.
