Video: Frankie Taylor Makes History With This Blistering 3.577 Pass

At the ADRL World Finals VIII on October 19, Tommy D’Aprile in his Mel Bush Motorsports Corvette laid down a blistering run of 3.58 at 209.85 mph to claim the quickest run in the history of the American Drag Racing League’s Pro Extreme division. The title was short-lived however as the third round of Pro Extreme qualifying unfolded at the season ending race at the Texas Motorplex.

[1]Frankie “Mad Man” Taylor, who was the first driver in Pro Extreme to record a 3.5-second lap at Rockingham back in 2010, rewrote the history books on the same night, toppling D’Aprile’s momentary claim, when he piloted his Stupid Fast Racing-sponsored Corvette to an unprecedented and astounding 3.577 at 212.19 mph run in front of his home state crowd.

Taylor closed out the 2012 ADRL season with a grand farewell, as the Texan once again claims the quickest run in the history of the American Drag Racing League and the new world speed record.

While Taylor’s Dallas numbers are tops in the United States, NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle star Matt Smith, son of Pro Mod veteran Rickie Smith, still holds the all-time doorslammer mark with his 3.55 in the Al-Anabi Racing Camaro recorded during the Arabian Drag Racing League season in Qatar in the winter of 2011.
