The Lynch Mob of driver Tim Lynch and tuner extraordinaire Steve Petty, along with Berry Motorsports and driver Eric Dillard were out at the Jackson Dragway in Jackson, SC making some testing hits in preparation for the swing of major doorslammer events on the East Coast in the coming weeks.
The dominating duo of Lynch and Petty only have a handful of runs under their belts with their brand new Proline-powered twin turbocharged 2010 Corvette, despite winning the first event they entered at NHRA Unleashed in Atlanta. This weeks testing in Jackson marked the first time they had encountered cooler air to see what the car was capable of outside of the hot summer time conditions. On the first hit, Tim recorded a stellar 4.35 at 175 MPH, and followed that up with even quicker 4.30 at 178 MPH. In a recent interview with the pair, they indicated that mid 6.20′s in the quarter mile is the realistic goal this fall. If so, these numbers may only be scratching the surface of what we may be to come.
Meanwhile, Dillard, in his twin turbocharged Limited Street Mustang, powered into a mid-track wheelstand on his first hit down the Jackson eighth mile, forcing him to pedal the throttle to a relatively unrepresentative elapsed time. On the second crack, the nose of the car remained on terra firma all the way to stripe, netting a great 4.68 at 168 MPH.
