The guys over at Proline Racing Engines have always been great about keeping the public up to speed on their performances, complete with pictures and more importantly, video. And we’re down with that, because they’ve got a couple of the baddest rides on the planet and we get the chance to see these record-setting rides from the comforts of our homes and offices.
Last week, we shared with you some video courtesy of Proline highlighting a couple of passes by drivers Tim Lynch and Eric Dillard during a midweek testing session at the Jackson Dragway, in which Lynch nailed down a great 4.30-second, 178 MPH lap. And as most anyone that’s followed the Lynch and Petty duo for any length of time expected they blew that number out of the water at the Yellowbullet.com Nationals at Cecil County Dragway over the weekend.
During an open test session at Cecil county on Friday prior to qualifying on Saturday, Lynch pounded out an all-time best 4.17 at 183 MPH lap to the eighth mile, sending a collective groan through the Outlaw 10.5 pits. Making the lap even more impressive is the fact that Tim got the car over near the centerline and had to drive it back, using up extra real estate in the process. As you can also clearly see, Tim lifted just beyond the eighth mile marker and threw the chutes, unaware that the quarter mile clocks were turned on, coasting through to a still impressive 6.77 at just 150 MPH. they then followed that run up with a 4.22 to qualify atop the stout 32-car field, along with a string of low 4.2-second runs through eliminations to take home the check and the hardware. Tuner Steve Petty indicated in a recent interview with DRAGZINE that mid 6.20’s are a realistic goal this fall. With half track numbers in the teens and even better performances promised, they’re already knocking on that door with just a handful of passes on the new car.
