Records have been falling again like dominos in the always-exciting X275 class, and this past weekend at the Import versus Domestic World Cup Finals in Maryland, 1/4-mile record was reset again by Rob Goss. This run was not only the quickest X275 pass, it also reset the 1/4-mile record for the Gen III Hemi with a 6.92-second shot at over 203 mph.
Goss’ 2009 Dodge Challenger was the first to crack the six-second zone last year in X275 trim with the help of his F1-X ProCharger that stuffs boosted air into the BES Racing Engines-assembled Hemi. Earlier this year at Maryland International Raceway, Goss ran a 4.54 to the 1/8-mile with a booming 166 mph trap speed showing how much potential power his Gen III Hemi could make. Goss even dipped into the 4.40s running in Street Outlaw trim during the NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl this season with the late model Hemi mill.
To overcome some past engine block-related issues, Goss switched from an aluminum block to a cast iron unit to help keep the engine together as he turns the power up. TheRacingVids was on the property at MDIR and did a great job capturing Goss’ killer pass as his Mopar went right down the track like it was on a Sunday drive and resetting his record. On the record-setting pass, Goss went 1.15 to the 60-foot cone and a very strong 4.51 to the 1/8-mile at 162 mph before he ran it out the back door into the six-second zone and into the record books yet again.
