Video: Team Z’s Lower Control Arm Install How-To

Team Z Motorsports’ [1] Dave Zimmerman is at again this another of his popular insider how-to videos; this time with the goal in mind of showing viewers how to swap out the lower control arms on what Zimmerman refers to as a “little grocery getter,” that was once a magazine project car of Dr. Jamie Meyer that ran in NMRA Super Street Outlaw. Now, we’ve seen plenty of “grocery getters” in our time, and a seven-second Mustang on slicks with a parachute out back isn’t exactly the definition, but that’s besides the point.

In this educational clip, Zimmerman prefaces the lower control arm install by explaining the steps to jacking the car up properly and then walks us through his theory of utilizing stock springs with one of the coils cut out that not only works, but saves racers money in the process.

From there, the stock suspension wizard guides us through the process of installing the new lower control arm setup, beginning with tips for how to best go about the process in the safest and simplest manner, followed by instructions for measurement of the original control arm and a visual walk through of the installation.
