Video: Ulsch/Mobley Debut C7 Corvette, Go 4.11 on Fifth Pass!

A few months ago, we had a behind-the-scenes look into the new Ulsch/Mobley Racing Corvette from the team at Vanishing Point Race Cars. This past weekend during the Strange Engineering Outlaw Street Car Shootout at Cecil County Dragway, the veteran team debuted the sinister Corvette to competition.

Packing a BAE HEMI under the hood (well, sort of), Chuck Ulsch and Gil Mobley have enough horsepower to run in the front of the pack…but the big question was how quickly could they get the new car bugs worked out and be competitive. Using a complete VPRC custom four-link, X-Link and Pro Anti-Roll kit, this team has a top notch suspension setup on tap to take all of the horsepower and torque and plant it on the racing surface in a forward motion.

Cecil County Dragway has become one of the racer’s favorites on the East Coast with great track prep and hospitality — a fitting place to debut a brand new, 3500-plus horsepower monster sitting on Mickey Thompson 33 x 10.5W tires. Ulsch quieted the critics quickly with a super conservative 4.27 at 184 miles per hour right out of the box to get on the qualifying ladder.

After a few more passes and the weather conditions getting better as the night went on, the Mobley/Ulsch Racing team rolled back down the famous staging lane ‘hill’ at Cecil County Dragway for the fifth blast with the new Corvette. On a bye run, Ulsch clicked off a respectable 4.11 at 188 miles per hour with a solid crowd of fans on tap to see the team inch closer and closer to the front of the field in Outlaw 10.5.

Gil Mobley Racing is yet again going back towards the top of the heap in the competitive category of Outlaw 10.5 drag racing. Jim Geese and the team at Vanishing Point Race Cars have provided one of the sleekest cars on the property for Mobley/Ulsch to not only look good, but go quicker and faster than anybody else in the class. We at Dragzine want to congratulate the Gil Mobley Racing team and all sponsors/companies involved in this car for their stellar debut performance with the brand new C7 Corvette. Be on the lookout for more big numbers out of this car and team soon!
