On the hunt to take the X275 Series Championship, the team of Earl Stanley and Mike Adams Racecars started early in the season with a win in Huntsville, Alabama at Radial Fest. The team currently runs a Vortech V-24 XB-105, along with one of the smallest engine combinations in the class (347c.i.). However, this has turned out to be a consistent combination for the team that hails from Kentucky. With a string of 4.555 E.T.’s, they weren’t the fastest car on the property, but consistent rounds and impressive 60 foot times put them in position to win.
The team is working on building a larger engine combination that will be continue to use the same legendary performance found in all of Vortech’s Race winning Superchargers. Stay tuned to see more from the crew at Mike Adams Racecars and Vortech Superchargers.
Over the weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the 2017 Throwdown in T-Town, Chris Groves put the entire X275 field on notice with a thunderous 4.45 at 161mph #1 qualifying run. This run put Groves’ Vortech V-24 XB-105 Supercharged 1991 Mustang a stunning 2.65mph faster than the next closest qualifier in the class. Chris met Russell Foreman’s 1978 Chevy Malibu in the first round of eliminations, and Foreman’s 5.24 was no match for Groves’ 4.97 run. However, a misjudgement on track conditions in round 2 of eliminations led to Groves attempting to put too much power to the track against Stephen Plunkett, spinning the tires and leading to a surprising end to the weekend for the Groves/Vortech car.
