The lights of the Las Vegas Strip paled in comparison to the roar coming from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway November 20-23 for the Street Car Super Nationals X, and once again Vortech Supercharged action puts racers at the front of the pack and in the winner’s circle!
Chris Alston, Jr. had an epic weekend with his Vortech Supercharged ’64 Nova, running consistently low numbers every time down the track, turning in a 4.33 at 179 mph and taking the win against Kelly Henry in the finals. The efficient boost from Alston’s Vortech V-28 128 Supercharger and CDS Gear Drive bringing him to the winner’s circle once again.
In Wild Street, Chris Groves took it all the way to the finals with his Vortech V-21 XB110 Supercharged ’91 Mustang. In an absolute nail biter of a final against No. 1 Qualifier Eric Gustafson, Groves got the jump with a .014 to Gustafson’s .032, only to be edged out by 2 hundredths of a second at the finish line. A stellar showing from Groves, who is ever-so close to touching the 4.40’s.
Groves’ Vortech Supercharged Mustang features Pettis Performance 430 cubic inch Ford small block with Edelbrock SC-1 heads, a Marcella intake, and Neal Chance Converter with a Powerglide from Mike’s Transmission in California.
Justin Spencer did not have to travel far for this one, hailing from right there in Las Vegas. His Vortech Supercharged Twisted Modular Racing Mustang was all set to take the Mustang Madness field by storm, when an unfortunate -.012 red light closed out his weekend early in Round 2 of Eliminations.
Rick Hatch from Riverside, CA brought out his Vortech V-24 XB105 Supercharged ’91 Mustang for some Outlaw 8.5 action. Hatch’s combination is dead consistent, running identical 5.532 at 130.17 runs in Rounds 2 & 3 of Qualifying.
As the Holidays approach and the racing season comes to a close, we can all look forward to next year’s racing season, even more smashed records, and continued success for Team Vortech Racing!
