It’s that time of year again as only two races remain before the NHRA’ s Pro Stock contingent face off in the annual K&N Horsepower Challenge, to be held June 25 at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk.
The K&N Horsepower Challenge format features an eight car field with the first seven positions comprised of the top qualifying points earners at NHRA full Throttle Drag Racing Series races throughout the year, while the eighth and final position on the ladder is determined by a fan vote. By way of the fan vote, you can help your favorite driver make their way into the K&N Horsepower Challenge and a shot at the $50,000 winners payday.
Mike Edwards, Jason Line, and Allen Johnson have already punched their ticket to the lucrative race-within-a-race with the top three positions, while Greg Anderson, Ron Krisher, Rodger Brogdon, and V. Gaines currently hold the remaining positions with two chances left to maintain or improve their positions. Among those on the outside looking in are Shane Gray, Kurt Johnson, Warren Johnson, Greg Stanfield, Larry Morgan, Eric Enders, Vincent Nobile, and a host of others.
Also back for the second consecutive year is the K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes, in which eight finalists will earn a trip to the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk where they will be randomly paired with one of the drivers in this year’s race. The lucky finalist whose driver wins the K&N Horsepower Challenge will drive off in a brand new 2011 Ford Explorer courtesy of Ford Motor Company.
