As you can see from the post made by the realtor, the location is prime to pull lots of fans but also intriguing to other business owners as well.

After almost 60 consecutive years of operation, one of Indiana’s most historic drag racing facilities is now up for sale: the Osceola Dragway in the small northern Indiana town of Osceola. The quarter-mile facility ran under the NHRA flags and most recently the IHRA, during its six decades of operation before the drag strip was posted up for sale.

With the quarter-mile racing surface, it offers a lot of things that an eighth-mile facility cannot — a longer shutdown, an expanded pit area, and more, all of which is sits on right over 170 acres of land at Osceola. Located near the St. Joseph River, Osceola Dragway is in a prime location to gather attention with the right ownership, management, and property updates. Too often in this day and age, historic drag racing facilities like this go up for sale only to be turned into a shopping centers or housing developments.

But, racers have to have safe places to go and showcase their hard work and prize possessions and if facilities continue to be disappear, racers are forced to drive several hours to get to the next track, ultimately leading to fewer competitors and more street racing, neither of which are a positive in the grand scheme of our wonderful sport. Hopefully, this proud piece of go-fast real estate ends up in the right hands and the heritage of drag racing will continue for another 60 years.

The Osceola staff issued the following statement on Monday:

We at the track would like to take this opportunity to address some rumors going around. As you may have heard the track is for sale. As you know Ruth is getting older and can no longer maintain the track on her own, Tim is reaching retirement age as well and is looking towards his future. With that being said the track is for sale as a drag strip to the right buyer. Tim and Ruth both would like it to continue operating as a drag strip and are selling it as such. To address the rumor that the track cannot operate as a drag strip if it is ever sold from the Chizum Family…. This rumor is UNTRUE. The track is required to hold a minimum of one race every 365 days to maintain it’s zoning exemption no matter who the owner is. Next rumor…the track will not be open next year….FALSE! The track WILL OPEN next season as scheduled. Please understand the sale of our facility will not happen overnight, and we are committed to maintaining our racing program for our Osceola racing family.
