West Coast Drag Radial Racing With Dave Bowman

[1]Most of the buzz you hear about small tire drag radial racing seems to come from the eastern and southeastern United States. However, there is some serious heads-up racing that goes on on the west coast with the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) and the NMCA now making stops out west. One of the faster guys you will see out in the sunshine state is Dave Bowman and his stunning 2002 Camaro.

The Bowman Motorsports team has made waves on both coasts in the world of small tire racing. In 2010 the team showed up to a pair of ORTC races and represented Cali very well.  Both times the twin turbo terror driven by Dave made it down to the last four cars at each event. The team pulled this off even after having to repair the engine block of the car, in the trunk of a rental car, at a local shop!

[2]Bowan’s Camaro is a 25.3 cage car that was built by Mike Bolla at Enterprise Motorsports. Mike also fabricated a boatload of custom suspension parts, and a full floater rear end for the car. Motivating the car down the track is a 454 cubic inch Brodix block SBC built by Dave’s Engine and Machining. The engine uses a set of Brodix heads and intake, Bryant crank, BME rods, and Diamond pistons to make the power needed to run at the front. Robert at Chiseled Performance provided the intercooler that works with the twin 88mm Precision turbos.

In 2013, Dave’s Camaro will be getting a boost in the power department. Angie Bolla plans to add some extra rip to the engine program, and Mike Bolla will be making updates to the car. The team plans on hitting as many WCHRA and NMCA races as possible. After last season’s runner up finish in the TT5 class at the Super Street Car Nationals you can bet Dave and his team will be in the hunt throughout the year.
