Wilson Manifolds Launches BIG ONE GEN II 4500 Throttle Body

Wilson Manifolds 3

With more and more racers going away from carburetors in favor of EFI and standalone engine management systems, this is a move right in Wilson Manifolds’ wheelhouse. Wilson Manifolds has made its name on throttle bodies, intake elbows, carb spacers, and its porting prowess.

Wilson’s newest throttle body is labeled as the BIG ONE GEN II throttle body. The BIG ONE is on a 4500 flange bolt pattern, and capable of accurately flowing 2,320 cfm. These throttle bodies are designed to also work in concert with Wilson’s carb spacers, and with one of the company’s 1.5-inch tapered spacers, that figure grows by 160 cfm. With a 3-way adjustable linkage arrangement, making the BIG ONE, Wilson has taken out the guesswork on making it compatible with your configuration. There are two progressive linkages available, and another that is one-to-one.

The BIG ONE was designed to make use of the maximum flow per square inch with machined throttle shafts to make sure they wouldn’t hinder flow. Plus, the throttle shafts use aircraft-quality hardware, along with Loctite to make sure the screws stay put, and not ingested into the engine.

The throttle body uses inward-facing throttle blades, which Wilson says eliminates part-throttle directional influence by the blades that can cause poor air distribution. Wilson knows racers also worry about excess weight, so the BIG ONE is small on the scale thanks to its billet 6061-T6 aluminum construction.
