X275 Class To Be Featured At NHRA New England Nationals

As reported last week by the New England X275’s Torrey Browne, the National Hot Rod Association has revealed its latest cross-genre exhibition partnership — and yet another highly fruitful one, if you ask us — by extending an invite to the popular small-tire X275 category at the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire this June.

The X275 exhibition, which will feature ten cars in all, will be the second such Friday exhibition on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series calendar this year, following the small-tire No Prep show that will take place this weekend at the SpringNationals in Houston. And from what we gather, some other blockbuster announcements should be forthcoming from the NHRA regarding other exhibitions in the latter half of the season.

The Epping event will pit five competitors from the NEX275 series — Manny Buginga, Mark Dykeman, Robert Baptista, Scott MacDonald, and Tommy Depriest — against five cars to be chosen by X275 founder and series director John Sears. Sears is still working to compile his driver lineup for what will be arguably the biggest stage the X275 class has ever competed on , in front of a typical sell-out crowd at the New England Dragway. We’ll publish the complete drivers list when available.

For the NHRA, this announcement signals another homerun move in our opinion, as they branch out of of their inner circle of traditional categories to not only introduce their fans to a whole different realm of the sport, but also blends the heads-up doorslammer crowd with their own fanbase. A win-win scenario if there ever was one.
