Good morning race fans! We are on site here in Baytown. So far, we are lucky the rain has cleared up. It is still a bit wet, but the track is being dried and prepped for racing. It looks to be a great day of racing, and you can feel the excitement from the race teams while walking through the pits.

Chris Holbrook continues his family legend with his CobraJet Mustang running in the ADRL's new class, the SuperCar Showdown.

Representing the Dodge camp in the SuperCar Showdown is Teuton Morris' beautiful car. In speaking to one of the team members, he noted that they were leaving soft in recent testing and will be swapping gears to hook harder.

This is Bruce's first year to the ADRL, coming in from Georgia to race in the Top Sportman class. He says they are dedicated to run every event this year. The car is powered by a prototype 748 cubic inch motor with a single carburetor, being the only one in the nation.

Founder of Competition Engineering, Mike Valerio shows us the incredible strength of his modified carbon fiber wheelie bars which were originally on Pat Musi's race car. Mike tells us that he one of the originators of the wheelie bar back in the '70s.

Round One Qualifying:

Bob G is one of the first cars out, and ends up breaking loose hard during his burnout almost hitting the tree. Something serious broke down track during his pass not allowing him to finish the run.

Richard Cowgan also broke loose during his pass. There is a considerable amount of seeping of the track surface from the recent rain causing every car so far to break loose and most to break their cars. The current status of the race is we are on at least an hour hold while track crew members are drying the track surface. The track continues to weep, causing havoc with every car that has been down the track so far. It has been said that if the sun comes out any more than it is currently, it will cause more water from under the track to percolate through to the surface.
