SELECT COVERAGE BY DAY:
- Eddie Careccia had a close race with Alberigi in the semis driving by with a 3.92 @ 91 to 3.98 @ 188 despite loosing the wing early in the run. Hutson red lit on her single and ran a nice 3.85 @ 189. The final would get interesting as Careccia had no wing to aid in planting the tires ont he top end. Melissa would get away first with a nice .025 and running a 3.82 @ 189, her light was enough to hold off Careccia's 3.79 @ 196 for top MPH of the event.
- Tony Christian ran a nice 4.07 @ 183 to beat Jon Adams' 4.29 @ 169. Anthony Russo left first on Mendola with a .012 but his 4.57 was not enough to hold of the Sipple power in chris Mendola's Camaro. In the final Mendola would be out first with a .091, Tony had significant ET advantage going in and his 4.20 @ 176 was enough to take the win.
- Tim Lynch put up a 4.32 @ 182 in the semis to get by Tony Johnson's roots blown Camaro despite his perfect .000 light. Wells and Lowery faced off in the other pair with Wells running a 4.51 to Lowery's off pace 7.60 shut down run. Nearly identical reaction times for Wells and Lynch in the final with Lynch having a .002 advantage. Lynch ran another 4.32 @ 183 while Wells lost traction at half track slowing to a 4.79.
- Top Qualifier Mike Schmidt had a bye to the final running a 6.27. Eddie Whitlow drove around Newell with a 4.77 to the loosing 4.84. The final had eddie out first with a .026 light but that wasn't good enough to hold off Schmitd's 4.71 @ 154 MPH run.
- Mel Nelson took down the last nitrous car with a 4.78 @ 162 to Opaleski's 4.92 @ 151. chad's father Andrew has been tuningthe car for a while now and the consistancy is showing now. Husted and Stevenson were the other pair left but husted didn't make the call and Stevenson went down easy to save parts. In the final Stevenson would get away forst with a .062 light but it wasn't enough to hold off the turbos 169 MPH top end charge. 4.74 for Nelson, 4.78 for Stevenson in a close race.
- Round three of Real Street Ronnie Wilson getting the win over Troy Fredrickson but he lost a driveshaft and passed up the scales giving troy the win. Shearin didn't make the call with Losee giving him a bye to the final. Troy Fredrickson gets the Real Street win with a 5.52 to Losee's 5.79 pedal job.
- Tony Johnson had a opponent broke bye and ran a 4.56 @ 174.
- Hutson ran a 3.92 to take the win over Eric Edelmann. Careccia laid down another stellar pass with a 3.79 @ 192 Gilmore shut off early in a loss to Steve Bush's 4.36 @ 161
- Tony C had a nice 4.03 on an easy first round win. Hill had low ET with a 4.01
- Real street has Ronnie Wilson on a rail this morning with a 5.19 @ 134 on his earned bye. Eugene Rodriguez did his job on the tree to take out Chris Owens turbo powered ride, Owens is sporting fresh paint here this weekend. James Binns made repairs to his broken driveshaft but fell to John Fernandez's 5.36. Aaron Gramer pedelaed it to a 5.41 after getting into a wheel stand on a single.
- A bent adjuster on Will Stevenson's torque arm had Dan and Kevin making the trip up to the shop for some late night repairs. Rob Wells and crew were also hard at it last night repairing a burned piston in his top qualifiers OL 10.5 Mustang. They got it fired up around 1 AM, he will have a bye in round one.
- Rob Wells shocked some folks today by taking the number one spot in Outlaw 10.5 over Tim Lynch with a 4.27 in the first session. Jake Carlton stepped it up in the final session to a 4.42 putting him in fifth.
- Eddie Careccia knocked it out of the park with a 4.83 @ 195 in the final session taking over the top spot from Melissa Hutson who also improved to a 4.89 @ 188. Tom Wirth also landed a 3.98 @ 183 in his last attempt.
- Frank Meshaw is fresh off his 2010 NMCA !0.5 championship and qualified tenth in the thirteen car field. Here he put too much power to it in the third session for a nice smoke show.
- Rob Wells shocked some folks today by taking the number one spot in Outlaw 10.5 over Tim Lynch with a 4.27 in the first session. Jake Carlton stepped it up in the final session to a 4.31 putting him in third.
- Halvor hansen made it into the field on his last attempt today and jumping all the way to 4th spot.
- Tony Christian and Mike Hill are the top two by a good margin over the rest of the Auto Pro Mod class with a 4.02 and 4.03 respectively. Jake Carlton got bumped to third with his .19.
- mel Nelson got quicker every pass today and dropped to a 4.62 @ 170 for number one qualifier. Husted also kept at it finally running a 4.820 to hold on to second ahead of Kenny Markwich's 4.840. Chad opaleski leads the nitrous folks with a 4.95 @ 150 and sits in 4th.
- Ronnie Wilson showed them hows it's done today by leading the Real Street field with a 5.20 early this morning. Aaron Gramer came back in the third round to bump Rick Losee back to third by. 003 running a 5.266 in the final session. Troy Fredrickson has vastly improved his performance this weekend running a 5.32, good enough for 4th on the ladder.
- Melissa Hutson ran the only 3 second pass in the first session taking the number one position with a 3.96 @ 186, Tom Wirth managed a 4.05 for second.
- Tony Christian's 4.02 sits on top of the Auto Pro Mod field, Chris Mendola sits in second with a 4.33 @ 165 in his blown Camaro. Jon Adams, Kenny Burgess and Sean Carpenter round out the top five.
- Tim Lynch is normally the man to beat but it's local racer Rob Well on top so for in OL10.5 with a 4.27 @ 183 in the first session, Lynch sits in second with a 4.30 @ 182, followed by Mark Ingle, Bill Futch and Troy Blake
- This is Will Stevenson's first time out since several upgrades at DNRC including a 25.3 Chassis and rear housing. They had trans trouble and were not able to run Friday. His first pass was a 5.01 @ 153, good enough for 4th spot.
- Mel Nelson leads the Drag Radial field with a 4.70 @169 which has been combined so the nitrous and boosted cars with run together. Scott Husted has been consistant so far running another 4.84 @ 161 for second qualifier.
- Mike Schmidt led first round quakifying with a 4.72 @ 150 with his 02 Camaro in Outlaw 632. Mike is often found at the top of the ladder in class with a Nelson competition 632 ci BBC. Lake Wales racer Brett Newell sits second with a 4.85 @ 155 and Jimmy Hall sits third of twelve so far.
- Ronnie Wilson was one of the first pair down and set low Et for the round this morning in Real Street with a 5.20 @ 134. Aaron Gramer was took the second spot with a 5.30 @ 134. Randy Shearin launched hard and carried the wheels out past the 60' to a new personal best 5.51 @ 142 which was good for sixth position.
- Chad Opaleski checks the fuel pressure on his Drag Radial 66 Chevelle this morning.
- Nitrous Mike is manning the grill this weekend and that mean gauranteed good eats. Mike knows cooking.
- Here is the cylinder head on Matt's Lil Pup Racing altered, ouch.
- Mike Hill is driving Jose Gonzales' car this weekend and ripped off a nice 3.99 in Automatic ProMod. Tony Christian ran a 4.02 and is happy with the ET for the tune they had in the car.
- Mel Nelson made it here after a late night thrash to get the car and engine repaired after loosing a motor at The Shakedown earlier this month. The wire harness under the hood was burned in the incident and they just got it fired up about 4 AM this morning. Big props to Steve McGuinness at Progressive Race Engines for getting the motor back together in time.He managed a 4.73 @ 162 on 10 lbs of boost today.
- Tim Lynch was on top of the heap with low ET in OL 10.5 with a 4.29 @ 183 after shaking the tires on his first run.
- Conrad Scarry laid down a nice 4.39 @ 176 today while Troy Blake managed a 4.47 @ 167 in his Procharged Camaro.
- The Open Outlaw group had some carnage today with Bill Heister taking out a trans, Tom Wirth hurting his good after blowing out the burst panels and damaging valves, keepers and who knows what else. Matt Wirth torched number 2 cylinder straight through the head and damaged the block forceing them out as well. Heister is making repairs for tomorrow. Tom Wirth pictured.
- Ronnie Wilson is another south Florida racer in Real Street and he laid down a stellar 5.04 on his first pass today.
- One of the first things I noticed today was Bill Futch's OL10.5 Camaro is back in action after being purchased by former Outlaw Radial racer Candido Sanchez. The combo is basically the same as before with upgraded heads from Brodix and Futch is handeling the driving while shaking down the new setup. Their first hit today was a 4.52 @ 170.
- This is the debut for Archie Marasco's updated Drag Radial Mustang. It's got a new engine with twins now and a new look to boot. His first pass looked nice and smooth and he shut down early.
- Another racer with a new ride is Anthony Russo out of Doc's Garage in Ocala, Florida. Russo sold off the early Chevelle and has bought a 2002 Firebird and stepped up to Atomatic Pro Mod using the same Nelson Competition 632 ci BBC from the Chevelle and has run 4.72 on one kit testing at SGMP.
- Tom Brown hails from south Florida and made the trip up with his early Mopar to compete in Real Street this weekend. The 440 ci small block was recently freshened with new rods as well as a cam swap. All machine work is done by Progressive Racing Engines and Tom does the assembly himself.
