ORTC Outlaw Radial Revolution 2011 Same Day Coverage

SELECT COVERAGE BY DAY:

After a rain shortened test session yesterday the bad weather should be all behind us with  sunny skies for the rest of the weekend.. Temps are forecast to be in the low to mid 80’s for the high dipping to the low 50’s overnight.

Special thanks to our event coverage sponsor Mickey Thompson, you can check out their fine line of wheels, street, and race tires at www.mickeythompsontires.com.

We got started right around 10 AM with 6.50 and the other index classes then Outlaw 10.5 kicks off the heads up classes. Pritchett Brothers, Torqued Tools, Baskin Trucking are backing 10.5 this year. Rob Wells took the top spot so far this morning in OL 10.5 with a 4.25 @ 184. Dave Demarco ran a 4.42 @ 174.

Eric Dillard was another car making runs early, he got some air under the front early and did a great job saving the run and bring the car down easy for a 4.51 @ 177.

The first pair out this morning in OL 10.5 was Troy Blake and Kevin Fiscus. It seems Kevin is actually double entered in 10.5 and Outlaw Radial, there were other Radial cars mixed in during the session, some of which are likely just making a test hit. Blake kicked the tires early while Fiscus went to to a 4.63 @ 176.

Paul Major bought an Open Comp tech card to make an early his as well, clicking it early to a 4.78 @ 128.

In Outlaw Radial notes Kenny Markwich got some air as well, carrying the wheels out but setting down hard and bouncing some forcing him to abort the run.

In ProFab/McFab Outlaw 275 NMRA racer John Urist ripped off a 4.71 @ 160 to take the number one qualifier by a wide margin. This is Urist’s first time racing in the Radial Revolution.

We just wrapped up round one qualifying here and we have the results for TCI X275 and outlaw 275. They are still inputting names into the computer for the big 275 classes so there is info missing from the sheets at this time. Kevin Neal leads the X275 class with a 4.90 @ 146, I believe Trace Meyer is second with a 4.97 @ 147 MPH.

Amanda "Puddin" Long tossed some merch to the crowd in betrween rounds while they were prepping the track.

Keith Szabo was the first one down in Radial vs. the World running a nice 4.71. Seemed several of the heavy hitters were up to run early for this round as the next pair was Scotty G. and Steve Jackson. A clean 4.66 @ 170 for Gaudagno as Stevie Fast wheelies out.

Willard Kinzer pedals it to a 4.84 @ 162. Chris Daniels gets a 4.70 @ 162 in his Trans AM (pictured) and Eric Dillard runs a 4.84 @ 185.

Paul Major held top spot for a short time with a 4.61 @ 160, just ahead of John Carter’s 4.62.

Alex Vettros would take the top spot away from team mate Major with a 4.46 @ 170

Round Two Notes

We are currently on a break after an oil down in X275 and they are getting ready to spray the track after the cleanup. Steve Jackson ran a 4.45 @ 173 earlier. Cars are still testing is different classes  and the qualifying sheets are in process so I’m not sure where he stands besides having low ET.

Walt Drakeford from Real Speed Racing put up a nice 4.76 @ 161, currently he is ninth in Outlaw Radial.

Gary Bunch had a wild ride in round two of Outlaw 275.
