Yellow Bullet Nationals 2011 Same Day Coverage

SELECT COVERAGE BY DAY:

This year will mark the second annual event for the infamous Yellow Bullet Nationals held at Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. Pro classes include OL 10.5, Drag Radial, X275 and 8.50 Index. 10.00 and 11.50 index are also on the bill along with several dial in classes. X275 is set to be off the chain this year with many drivers confirmed to attend. Keep tuned to Dragzine for updates through the entire weekend.

Today is the first official day of the event with testing running all day till 6PM and a Pro Qualifying session at 7. So far the car count looks impressive with many more cars than last year already.

Here this morning at Cecil County Dragway, the weather today is cloudy with a temp of 73 right now.

Greg – GMRACING355 is here form southern New Jersey to run the Super Street class this weekend with his Chevy Nova. He runs low 11’s to high 10’s and is the first person photographed here at the 2011 YB Nats.
The Mickey Thompson crew is here with the big truck to take of your tire needs on site.
Plenty of shirts and other items for sale at the X275 tent. I’m sure those little glasses with get some use this weekend, after hours of course.
Paul Major is on the lot with his Corvette to run Drag Radial, he just made a run in the 4.6 zone, so far so good.
Team Corrupt in the house, while not pretty Alex Vrettos freshly refurbished ride is here and ready for battle.
Neil Hawkins and Marty Whit from Hawkins Racecraft and Patriot Performance respectively. They have had some good runs with this car down in the 4.60 range, Donald and Amanda Long are helping out this weekend.

Scotty Gaudagno was here testing yesterday and broke the pinion on the first hit, taking out the third member as well. Fixing it was no problem, he is here on Drag Radials this weekend instead of the normal 10.5 “W” or the true tens allowed in a Limited Street class
Kevin Lampier is the track starter, he will be busy busy this weekend.
The K&K racecars crew is here with a brand new OL 10.5 Camaro. It’s maiden voyage was straight and true on a soft tuneup. Kenny Doak will handle driving. After spending so much time here with customers cars he said it’s time to have some fun racing as well.

“Killin Time” Racing’s Steve Jackson is here wearing out his old engine, he is always a threat and a top car in the Drag Radial class where ever he goes. he has taken some time off recently and welcomed a new baby daughter into the family just weekes ago. Congrats.
This is another new car on the lot, this one is a shop project by the guys at DMC Race Cars. Eric Ferrier will be driving the car which was just finished last night. The engine is a Kuntz and Co. 331 BF with a belt driven F1-R Procharger.

Quite a few racers made the trip up from Florida, including Jimmy Bradshaw and his Blown hemi Dart, Enrique Pirez, Ruben Tetshovelli, Eric Kenward, Kevin Fiscus, Scotty Gaudagno and Will Stevenson im sure there are others I’m missing, we can safely say Florida is well represented for sure.

Will Stevenson, former Drag Radial ORTC winner. He has made some changes to the car, sold the bruno and back to a powerglide based 2 speed.
This Mustang is driven by Eric Kenward, owner of Eric Automotive from Vero Beach, Florida.
Outlaw Jr. Dragsters will also be running here this weekend. This one is up from Orlando, Florida and driven by Matt Villante. They have two cars with the team, both sporting Autism Awareness graphics. There should be 13 or so cars here for the class.
Richie Stine will be driving the second car in the Ricky Fox camp this weekend.

Kevin Fiscus shares low ET in testing today with Paul Major running 4.58 to tie the track record. Stevie Jackson is close behind with a 4.62.

Scotty G had the best 60′ today with a 1.18 on his last pass, running a 4.79.
TJ Casper is flying Mickey Thompson colors with a new paint scheme. he carried the wheels to nearly the 330′ mark on this run.
Stevenson ran a 4.81, they are struggling a bit. Crew chief Denny Savage stand in front.
Part of Team Mobley, Chush Ulsh is in the house here at the YB Nats.
Richard Sexton piloted the GTO to a nice 4.19 for low ET in the 10.5 class today. Anthony DiSoma ran a 4.42 at a stellar 191 MPH for a track record HPH for 10.5.
Dale Collins Jr. had the top end apart this morning and was able to get it together and make one run late in the test session, looking good but lifting early after drifting towards the center.

Round One Qualifying Results


Richard Sexton leads the OL 10.5 field with a 4.17 @ 184.
Jason Enos sits in fourth with a 4.25 but wowed the crowd with a half track wheelie though the lights on the back tires.
Dean Marinis ripped off a 4.96 eaqrly in the session for the top spot and kept it through the round. Rich Bruder sits in second.
Chris Evans got a 5.06 out of his Procharged Mustang, good for third ahead of Eric Kenward.



Paul major owns the top spot in Drag Radial with a 4.41 @ 183 MPH.
Kevin Fiscus is in the number two position with a 4.53 @ 175, next is Alex Vettros, Scotty G. and Jesse Lambert rounding out the top five.
Sam Gottier leads Outlaw Big Tire with a 4.46 @ 162, a full two tenths ahead of the second place car of John Cerbone.
