Mickey Thompson Monday Morning Race Report

ADRL: Event Recap on DRAGZINE. Jason Hamstra added a second victory to a season in which he’d already visited three final rounds, defeating Todd Tutterow in the Pro Extreme finale at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich. to increase his points lead in the category. In Pro Nitrous, Mahana Al-Naemi ran the table in collecting his first career win, qualifying #1 and besting Burton Auxier in the money round. Reigning Pro Extreme champ Frankie Taylor did likewise as he earned his first win in the Extreme 10.5 division, qualifying atop the field with a 3.88 and using a great 3.91 to deny Billy Glidden a win. Ashley Owens pulled even with Glidden for most wins in series history by winning his 12th in Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Cary Goforth christened his new GXP with an Extreme Pro Stock victory, and Glenn Butcher became the first official Top Sportsman winner in the class’ first race. Super Chevy Show:
The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods joined forces with the Super Chevy Show at the Maple Grove Raceway over the weekend, where Tim O’Hare collected an easy victory in the Blown/Turbo category after would-be opponent Steve King crashed in the shutdown area during his semifinal match. Meanwhile in the Nitrous category, Steve Kramer powered his ’02 Camaro to a 6.30 win after Fredy Scriba had troubles and slowed to an 8.33. Sportsman racing hitter Bryan Worner also earned a win on the weekend in the Super Stock/Stock combo class. For more results, log on to Super Chevy Show.

Pro Mod Super Series: Event Recap on DRAGZINE. Eddie Rogers padded his points lead with a dominating win at the Kansas City International Raceway over the weekend in the Chris Duncan Race Cars Pro Mod Super Series, qualifying atop the field with a 4.06 and taking an easy victory in the finale when scheduled opponent Cathy Belcher was unable to make the call due to engine woes.

IHRA Nitro Jam: Bobby Lagana Jr. won is fourth consecutive IHRA Ironman and his 11th of the season to wrap up the Nitro Jam Top Fuel season title, Tim Boychuk and Peter Gallen waged an epic battle in Prostalgia Funny Car that the pair would ultimately split with each getting a win over the other on both days of the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario. Steve Dorn and Ron Maroney in the “Nanook” each earned wins to close the weekend on Sunday in Nitro Harley and Fuel Altered, respectively, while Jack Grainy took his ’68 Camaro to the Pro Mod Invitational crown in a spectacular 6.11 to 6.11 final round win over Eric Latino. NHRA Division 6: The NHRA Lucas Oil Series Division 6 meet at the Woodburn Dragstrip in Oregon ultimately succumbed to rain and eliminations have been scheduled to re-commence September 16. Joey Severance qualified atop the Top Alcohol Dragster field with a great 5.38, while Jay Payne headed up the tough Top Alcohol Funny Car field with a 5.66. Randy Jones paced the Competition Eliminator field at 8.46 seconds, -0.621 under the C/TA index. Other top qualifiers included Christopher Cour in Stock and Sean Cour in Super Stock.
