Joining Vandergriff in victory lane was Cruz Pedregon, who notched his first win of the season and aided his title hopes with a final round victory over Ron Capps. Jason Line, facing Kurt Johnson in the final round for the second straight race, avenged his red-light loss in Charlotte with his fifth win of the season, increasing his points lead to 112 over the rest of the Pro Stock field. And Michael Phillips, winless for more than a year, downed rookie Hector Arana Jr. in the Pro Stock Motorcycle finale, moving himself up to seventh in the points. In Pro Extreme, Alex Hossler notched his first win of the season in a strange race, as oppoent Joshua Hernandez went red and Hossler’s blower belt broke in the money round. In just his second race, Jeremy Teasley earned his first win in Pro Extreme Motorcycle, while Cary Goforth took a commanding points lead in Extreme Pro Stock, setting a new national record and downing Doug Kirk in the final. Fall Civil Wars: Holcomb Motorsports’ annual Fall Civil Wars, held at the fabled Rockingham Dragway, succumbed to rain showers on Sunday as eliminations began to wind down. As a special standalone event without a possible makeup date, the event was called and the purses split between the racers still in contention. DRAGZINE will have a complete wrap-up of qualifying and the completed rounds of eliminations from Rockingham later in the week.
JEG’S Northern SPORTSNationals: The final sportsman national event of the season concluded at the National Trail Raceway in Columbus on Sunday, where Jason Coan captured the Competition Eliminator title in his F/ED, besting David Yediny’s L/A with a better reaction time and a quicker pass in the final.
