The first half of the Countdown to the Championship came to a close this weekend in Dallas, as LE Tonglet scored his third straight win in Pro Stock Motorcycle over Andrew Hines, while Tony Schumacher ended Shawn Langdon’s solid march through eliminations in the final round. Matt Hagan topped points leader John Force in the Funny Car final, while Greg Anderson continued his recent resurgence in performance with a final round rout of Mike Edwards. ADRL: Event Recap here on DRAGZINE. Former NHRA Top Alcohol racer Mick Snyder scored his first ADRL win in Pro Extreme at the ADRL Ohio Drags IV race at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, besting Alex Hossler in a wild final round that took a review by officials before. Jim Laurita also notched his first ever title in Pro Nitrous, defeating Terry Housley with a great 3.94. Chuck Ulsch pulled off the upset in Extreme 10.5, defeating the world beater Dan Millen, while Cary Goforth and Ashley Owens were winners in Extreme Pro Stock and Pro Extreme Motorcycle, respectively. NHRA SportsNationals: Local racers Craig Marshall and Jeff Brown led the winners at the JEGS Northern Sportsnationals in Columbus, earning wins in Super Stock and Top Dragster, respectively. Charlie Greco was the victor in Competition Eliminator, besting David Billingsley in the final round, while Pro Stock standout Dave Connolly won Super Gas in a double-breakout final over Billy Smith. NHRA Division 6: The competitors of the Northwest Division 6 Lucas Oil Series visited the Champion Raceway in Medford, Oregon over the weekend, where Shawn Cowie earned a win Top Alcohol Dragster in a great final round with Joey Severance, 5.46 to 5.48, while Brian Hough won Top Alcohol Funny Car simply by staging the car after receiving a solo run as other competitors experienced engine woes. Aaron Strong nailed down a stellar .001 light in the final of Competition Eliminator and was never headed by opponent Pay Byron. In-depth event results are available on Drag Race Central.
