NHRA: Same Day Event Coverage here on DRAGZINE. Pro Stock Motorcycle rookie Hector Arana Jr. scored the first national event win of his young career on drag racing’s biggest stage on Monday, downing fellow rookie Jerry Savoie with a track record ET in the final round. Meanwhile, Antron Brown raced to his third Indy title and first in Top Fuel, while Mike Neff scored his first Big Go title in Funny Car. Greg Anderson, already with five Indy wins on his resume, added a sixth with a holeshot defeat of teammate Jason Line, and Eric Dillard, making his first ever start in Pro Modified, charged into victory lane with a final round rout of Mike Castellana. Yellow Bullet Nationals: Same Day Event Coverage here on DRAGZINE. The forum-goers who kill and eat the weak converged upon Maryland’s Cecil County Dragway over Labor Day weekend for the second annual and much-anticipated Yellow Bullet Nationals, where Richard Sexton raced to the Outlaw 10.5 crown against some staunch competition, defeating Nate Pritchett in the money round. Rich Bruder bested Richie Stine for the X275 crown, and Steve Jackson and Alex Vrettos faced off in a heavyweight Outlaw Drag Radial finale, with Vrettos nabbing the title with his best run of eliminations, a 4.49, to defeat Jackson’s game 4.53.

NMRA: Same Day Event Coverage on StangTV. Mother Nature won big in Columbus at the next-to-last event on the NMRA schedule at the National Trail Raceway, cutting short Sunday’s eliminations and forcing the event’s conclusion at the finale in Bowling Green. Drag Radial was the only category run to completion, with Jason Lee and Andy Manson once again squaring off, and Lee taking this round on Manson’s red light. In Bowling Green, Sam Vincent will meet Phil Hines for the Super Street Outlaw title, Alton Clements and Brian Mitchell will meet in the EFI Renegade finale, and Charlie Booze Jr. and Robbie Blankenship will once again challenge one another for Hot Street honors.

IHRA Pro-Am: The IHRA’s Heat Wave Division 2 competitors mixed it up at South Carolina’s Darlington Dragway over the weekend for a two-day stint, where James Albertson took Top Dragster honors on day one with a final round defeat of a slowing Derrick Scholar, while Rick McDonough earned the Top Sportsman Ironman with a dead-on 4.780 and a quicker reaction time than opponent Cody Whitley. On day two, P.W. Hilling ran closer to the dial in the Stock Eliminator finale, besting B.J. Bianchi, and John Dustin was the victor in a close double-red light final with Donny Urban. IHRA Pro-Am: The Division 4 Renegades were also in action during the holiday weekend at the San Antonio Raceway, where Jacob Pitt ran right on the dial in the Stock Eliminator final and forced opponent Jerry Doughty under for the win, while Scott Ball had a nearly insurmountable .009 package in the Top Dragster finale for the victory. Day two saw Scooter Hampton score the Top Sportsman title on Trent Wilson’s oh-so-close -0.001 red light, and Todd Robinson earned Quick Rod honors by an 8.91 to 8.92 count over Alan Savage.
