NMCA: Same Day Event Coverage on StreetLegalTV. Vinny Demieri was quick, but it was consistency in the tricky heat that paid off for his first win in NMCA Pro Street competition at Beech Bend over the weekend, defeating an out-of-shape Joe Dunne in the final round. In Super Street, Mike Murillo continued his dominant pace, although showing signs of being human in the later rounds, including a 7.27 in the final that was enough to best Ed Rice’s struggling lap in the other lane. Jim Jarrett overcame some staunch competition for the Nostalgia Pro Street crown, and Bob Kurgan did likewise in Xtreme Street, earning the win on Phil Smith’s redlight in the final. Others winners included Don Baskin, Jason Lee, and Robbie Blankenship.
NHRA: Event Recap here on DRAGZINE. Tim Wilkerson ended his year-long winless drought as the grueling Western Swing came to a close in Seattle over the weekend, defeating Jack Beckman in the final to repeat as winner of the event at Pacific Raceways. And in Pro Stock, the Summit team’s strong showing continued, this time with Jason Line earning the win over teammate Greg Anderson, 6.55 to 6.56. Frank Manzo meanwhile, who has more Division 1 wins than one could count, took an easy victory in Top Alcohol Funny Car when scheduled opponent Eric Laurie couldn’t get his car to fire. And in Competition Eliminator, Kyle Cultrera took a close victory over the always tough Sal Biondo, his .012 light and -.522 9.05 defeating Biondo’s quicker -.531 8.16. IHRA Division 3: In a double breakout finale, Will Crawford emerged victorious with a closer -.001 pass in the final to defeat Josh Rietscha in the Top Dragster final on Saturday at the Pittsburgh Raceway Park, and was joined in the winners circle by Mike Sowards, who used a stout .009 package in the Top Sportsman final to oust Andy Gregoire. On Sunday, Craig Marshall earned a close final round victory over Aaron Allison in Super Stock, with just .004 separating the pair at the stripe. The Hot Rod final was an even closer affair as Greg Fowler edged out Donny Urban by just .002, or 4 inches for the title, 7.00 to a 7.02.
