The NMCA All-American Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis brought out some incredible cars that put on a great show. This event featured not only the stars of the NMCA Muscle Car Drag Racing Series, but some exciting exhibition categories, a car show, and even drift racing. Fans were treated to more than the usual NMCA classes, as there was the Chevrolet Performance LSX Shootout, as well, featuring the quickest LSX-powered cars around doing battle, along with the NSS All-Stars at Indy that showed off all the Nostalgia Super Stock cars on the property.
The quickest of the NMCA classes, Xtreme Pro Mod, put up some big numbers with exceptional racing all weekend long. Number four qualifier Billy Banaka was able to get the win in his 1969 Camaro on Sunday by defeating former series champion Steve Summers in the final with a 3.91 at 198 mph.
Radial Wars had a stacked field with the likes of Josh Klugger, Daniel Pharris, Mark Woodruff, and Rob Valden all in attendance and running in the high three-second to low four-second range. The final was a familiar one as DeWayne Mills and Keith Berry squared off, with Mills getting the win, running a strong 3.94 at 197 mph.
Nitrous Pro Street ended up being the Joe Bucaro show, as he dominated the class all weekend, setting low elapsed time with a 7.26 at 187 mph to become the number one qualifier in his Mustang. In the final round, Bucaro confirmed that low elapsed time was not a fluke, running 7.28 at 187 to defeat Jim Bell.
The Street Outlaw final featured Phil Hines against Jacky McCarty, who are both locked in a tight points battle with Jarod Wenrick. In the finals, McCarty’s turbo Mustang was able to best of Hines’ ProCharged machine, running a 4.43 to Hines’ losing 4.56.
In the LSX Shootout heads-up classes of Drag Radial and Real Street the racing was exciting as always. The LSX Drag Radial class came down to Anthony Manna and Mark Carlyle in the final, with Manna getting the win after Carlyle spun. Camren Massengale was able to get the win in Real Street, defeating number one qualifier George Toll by running a clean 8.13 at 177 in the finals.
Other class winners included Louie Fillippides in Xtreme Street, Rick Riccardi in NA 10.5, Al Corda in Nostalgia Super Stock, Andy Warren in Nostalgia Muscle Car, Chuck Watson in EFI Factory Super Car, Glenn Pushis in Chevrolet Performance Stock, Donnie Bowles in Open Comp, Shawn Morrow in Top Sportsman, and Brad Medlock in the MX235 Shootout.
